Organizations addressing food insecurity host Back-to-School Labor of Love food distribution event in August
Charlotte, NC – The Muggsy Bogues Family Foundation (MBFF) is set to host its 5th annual Muggsy Bogues Celebrity Golf Classic on Monday, Sept. 25, 2023, at The Club at Longview in Waxhaw, NC. Funds raised from this first-rate event will directly support the MBFF and its mission to assist underserved youth and families in the Charlotte community. The event begins with registration and grab and go breakfast at 8 a.m. followed by a four-player scramble shotgun start at 9 a.m.
“Making a difference and having fun while you do it is what you can expect at our annual Celebrity Golf Classic,” says Muggsy Bogues, Founder and President of the MBFF. “This marquee fundraiser is pivotal to our work and continued mission of helping underserved youth and families to have a better shot at life.”
Proceeds generated through this signature fundraising event will sustain the MBFF’s Labor of Love food distribution events where families not only receive food, but other necessities, health services, and access to workforce development and job training programs. Proceeds also support trades-based scholarships through a partnership with CPCC through the Muggsy Bogues Family Scholarship Fund and the Workforce Development Scholarship Program. Since its inception, the MBFF has reached hundreds of families and thousands of individuals.
“Food security is a growing issue in Mecklenburg County. With the persistent rise in prices of groceries and most other basic necessities, it’s imperative that we continue to grow our programming to reach more underserved families,” states MBFF Executive Director, Terry Albanese.
Confirmed celebrity guests for this year’s tournament include MBFF Board Member Kurt Coleman, Dell Curry, Kyle Petty, Roman Harper, Ron Harper, Alonzo Mourning, Charles Oakley, Steve Smith, Sr., Brandi Jackson, Greg Olsen, and Spud Webb. More current and professional athletes are expected to attend.
Registration fees include green fees, contests, cart, swag bags, breakfast, lunch, and drink tickets. A post-tournament ceremony will provide awards for the first, second and third place teams along with other contests. Participants can register by clicking HERE.
Join our top sponsors, State Street Companies and Rugs.com, in making this a great fundraiser for an important cause. The MBFF is also excited to welcome new and returning sponsors to the event such as Tito’s, ACN, Fahrenheit Charlotte, Rita’s, FORVIS, and, of course, the Charlotte Hornets.
