Crown Town Neighborhood Showdown Draws Over 300 Attendees for a Night of Community, Competition, and Charity

Charlotte, NC – October 23, 2024 – The Crown Town Neighborhood Showdown—A Royal Yelp Affair—successfully brought together over 300 community members from across Charlotte for an evening of celebration, competition, and philanthropy at The Union at Station West in the vibrant Wesley Heights neighborhood.

Hosted by Yelp and the Bogues Group, this free event showcased local businesses while raising $2,000 for Habitat for Humanity. Attendees also contributed to hurricane relief efforts, donating over two tons of water to support operations in Western North Carolina. Sustainability was a key focus, with vendors utilizing compostable items and Coca-Cola Consolidated managing recycling efforts.

The event featured $1,000 in prizes/giveaways and showcased over 35 local businesses, including Paddywax Candle Bar, Popstarz Popcorn, B.A. Donuts, and The Art of Me Cafe, providing attendees with unique local experiences from every neighborhood.

A highlight of the night was a culinary competition where top local restaurants vied for the title of neighborhood champion. After an exciting showdown, Catalu, a rising star in Uptown dining, was crowned the winner for their creative dishes and community engagement. The evening was further enhanced by live music from Soulful Sounds, vibrant balloon decor by Party Angel Decor, interactive artwork, and a fun photo booth experience from CLT Photo Booth Magik. Guests enjoyed exploring pop-up shops and art installations, celebrating local talent and creativity.

Organizers Ashley Finney and Brittney Bogues ensured every detail was attended to, with Mo Photos Photography and Rico Marcelo Photos capturing stunning visuals, and Cory Spencer Media providing professional videography. A recap video is available to view the highlights of the event. Media outlets are invited to explore the event’s Yelp Event Review Page, featuring over 1,000 photos and glowing 5-star reviews from attendees. A special thanks goes out to our sponsors, Great Clips, Albermarle, Harris Teeter and Coca Cola Consolidated, for their invaluable contributions to making this event a success.
